Yayasan Pendidikan Harapan Papua is a non-profit organization bringing education and healthcare to remote villages in Papua's interior mountainous region, among the most underdeveloped on the planet. We believe that the key to developing Papua is to equip its people with holistic education: educating the whole person academically, socially, physically, and spiritually-preparing the student in all dimensions for life and works.
At Sekolah Lentera Harapan in interior Papua, learning does not only take place inside classrooms, but as seen in the original photograph above, it could be through outdoor exercises. It is not note learning but fostering critical thinking so that students learn to evaluate the situation and make informed choices based on the true knowledge they have learned.
The laughters in this photo reflect how much students are gowing individual and as a community. With a healthy collaboration, these children can maximize and combine every talent they have to develop their village.
